Bloom Boom Community Project
In 2010 Ginger Moo was asked by Crawley Borough Council, Crawley Town Centre Partnership and County Mall to work with six secondary schools in the local community.
Working alongside a team from the Council, our aim was to enhance the town centre in and to add a creative response to the town’s entry to Britain in Bloom.
The project became focussed on the environment and a group of students from each school developed their ideas further. In total, we ran eighteen workshops that produced a three dimensional fibre glass flower sculpture displayed in a trail through the town.
It was a huge success.
The judges commented that the Crawley entry had successfully drawn on community engagement and said they hoped that similar projects would be rolled out across Sussex.
Students and teachers felt it was a very beneficial event. Feedback suggested that they ‘enjoyed working as part of a team’ and it encouraged ‘positive connections outside the school,’ all things that Ginger Moo was set up to promote.
